Guides

Choose the workflow that matches where your DICOM data live and how you want to launch the viewer.

  • Inspect images in the viewer — navigate logical series, adjust presentation, browse tags and references, interpret semantic or WSI context conservatively, and mask identifiers and redact burned-in text for a shared screen.
  • Inspect a study over SSH — keep the server on remote loopback or a private Unix socket, forward it, and open the access link in a local browser.
  • Launch dcmview from Python — use blocking, non-blocking, and context-managed sessions from scripts and notebooks.
  • Open DICOM data in VS Code or Cursor — use the extension, custom editor, commands, and integrated-terminal bridge.
  • Work with ROI annotations — load, edit, validate, and export in-memory EMBED-style rectangles.

All workflows start the same self-contained Rust viewer. The architecture concepts explain how its CLI, Python, VS Code, server, and browser layers relate; the reference records exact flags, parameters, settings, and formats.
